3 Day Diet
The 3 day diet is just another trendy calorie-restricted diet in which, for a limited time period, you severely reduce the amount of food you eat, to the point of near starvation.
There are claims that if you follow the 3 day diet correctly, you can lose up to 10 pounds in just three days. So is it safe for anyone to follow this diet plan? As a general rule. health professionals do not recommend the 3 day diet, and nutritionists will invariably dismiss this diet plan as a fad diet that is quite ineffective at producing sustainable weight loss. And some simply claim that it's just another starvation diet.
The 3 day diet isn't really anything scientific or over-complicated. While it is certainly possible to lose 10 pounds or more in three days, the chances are you will put it all back on again soon after you finish this diet plan. Basically the 3 day diet is just another calorie-limited diet that typically involves three or more meals a day with very limited portions of low fat and low sugar foods.
Some examples of the meals recommended in the 3 day diet include for breakfast one half a grapefruit and one slice of toast; for lunch a half a cup of tuna (without mayonnaise) and a slice of toast; and for dinner two cups of vegetables, a three ounce portion of chicken, and one cup of ice cream.
The 3 day diet, like many other diets, recommends drinking four or more glasses of water every day. This diet also allows you to add low calorie seasonings to your food, such as salt and pepper, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, and spices. And if no sugar is added, this diet also allows you to drink tea, coffee, and diet sodas.
So does the 3 day diet plan really work? If you stick with it, there's a good chance that you will lose some weight. However, to go from eating normal or oversized portions of food to eating the kinds of meals recommended in the 3 day diet is going to disturb your body's metabolism.
Essentially, while following this diet plan for just three days, you'll be in starvation mode. For most people, the 3 day diet is not a very good diet plan, because from the moment you resume your regular consumption of food you start to gain wait again.
The 3 day diet may help if you are otherwise healthy and just want to lose 10 pounds or more for a wedding, a reunion, or some other social event coming up over the weekend. However, in terms of an effective sustainable weight loss program, in the long run this diet will not help much.
About the only thing that the 3 day diet does do right is to recommend we drink plenty of water. In fact, everyone of us should drink at least four glasses of water a day, whether on a diet or not, and ideally we should all drink a whole lot more.
